“ We love coming to the Bebedero. The food and drinks are always phenomenal. They do a spicy margarita perfectly. Service is always swift and courteous. Recently, we attended one of River's (the owner) Mezcal classes, which I gifted to my husband for Christmas. It was PHENOMENAL. In two hours, we dove into the mythology, history, chemistry, botany, and anthropology of mezcal. We tasted 10 different mezcals and learned about each and every "evolution" and "tradition" of each bottle. River was knowledgeable and engaging without ever being pretentious. He doesn't simply know about mezcal, he is a passionate advocate for the art and the product. We had a wonderful time and stayed after to grab dinner (especially after the many tastings). ”

“ Located in the Pedestrian Mall in Charlottesville, this "watering hole" - the English translation of Bebedero - has quite the libations menu. And if you like Tequila like yours truly, you can get a flight! I got the Salmon tacos and I can definitely recommend. Inside and outside dining offered. A little pricey in my book, but worth it if want to treat yourself or a fun date night (with a designated driver). Or walk it off in the mall! ”

“ Came in and had the empanada, which was really delicious... Stewed chicken filling. It was served with aïoli and guacamole on the side. The margaritas were awesome as well. ”

“ Updating since I was last here: Bebedero is still great. There are some dishes here I have tried subsequent to my first review with some I would highly recommend as well as some I would suggest passing on. The ambiance at Bebedero is fantastic. Decor is awesome floor to ceiling with really fun wall art, and colors and lighting to make a relaxed a more intimate atmosphere. Service has been great when I've been here. Staff are friendly and attentive. The good: two things I would highlight here are the queso fundido appetizer and the chicken tikka tacos. The queso is big- can easily feed 4-6 and is really amazing with big chunks of chorizo sausage in it. Tacos are the thing at Bobedero so lean that direction if you are unsure why to try. The chicken tinga are my favorite here. Well seasoned and savory with corn tortillas. A dish to pass on unfortunately is the Al pastor pork tacos. I love Al pastor seasoned and cooked meat and was excited to see it on the menu here. Unfortunately it was not quite the traditional pork Al pastor I was hoping for. It is seasoned well and includes some pineapple in the bite. What is missing is the char that to me puts the finish on any Al pastor cooked meat. Secondarily, the pork was very fatty- at least a third of the meat in the dish was actually fat. I personally do not like fat with on any meat and the amount here was a serious turn off for me. Would pass on the Al pastor. Both appetizers and dishes are prices in the high teens which is fair for the location and amount of food you get. Definitely give Bobedero a try. It's great food that I think is hands down better than chain Mexican restaurants and most small shops. ”

“ Found this spot when I was searching for gluten-free places to eat in the Cville area. The multicolored chips initially had me worried that I had landed in a subpar excuse for Mexican food joint. However, when the entrees came out, I was blown away. I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas and they were amazing. We also got a cauliflower appetizer. The red chimichurri sauce on that was so smoky and delicious. This will be our go-to spot when we are in the area. Definitely check it out. ”

“ We visited during burger week and didn't have to wait at all since we came in a weekday for lunch and sat at the bar. We ordered a house margarita which was amazing and the burger along with a side of yucca fries. Our burger did take some time to come out but it was worth the wait!! Timbercreek ground beef, chipotle aioli, spring mix, fire roasted pablano & red peppers, chihuahua cheese. So yummy but they forgot our yucca fries so they took them off the bill when they finally came. They were really good too and the bartender was sweet and helpful. The ambiance is great as it always has been! ”

“ Nice inviting location, it is very loud in here. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. We were torn between the queso and the guacamole, but ended up going with the guacamole for an appetizer. It was freshly made and delicious. For the main course, my wife went with the chicken nachos and I ordered the carne asada. Both of them were very flavorful and I would definitely order it again. A couple we were with ordered the pork belly and tacos and those turned out great as well. The picante margarita (spicy) level 2 (butt on fire) was very good. The only negative, was the sound level. I think it was partly because this used to be a minimal seating, steak house, so the acoustics are not really conducive to being packed. Sound dampening panels? ”

“ Here for a family event and tried Bebedro. The guacamole was very good. They make their own tortillas. We got carnitas, carne asada and a plate of tacos. All quite good but not amazing. Margaritas were delicious. ”

“ I was really impressed by Bebedero! I hadn't managed to make it down here, and I loved the interior space. The staff was also very friendly and managed to squeeze us in without a reservation, even on a busy night. The food and drinks alike were great. The margaritas are super fresh and have lots of interesting flavor combinations. The tacos pack a flavor punch, I recommend trying as many as you can! The chips and salsa are delicious too, and I'd go back even just for those. It is a bit of a pricey place, but the quality is very high (and the portions are large as well). Recommend checking it out if you are a taco or marg lover! ”
